Westcott Church of England School

PFA News

The Parents' and Friends' Association meets once or twice a term to discuss fundraising events.

We are a group of dedicated mums and dads organising events to raise money that directly benefits our children. We also arrange specific events that contribute to local charities, as well as our school.

Our meetings are informal and we have lots of fun raising money.
The PFA funds provide coach trips for regular outings.

The PFA contributed significantly towards the wonderful roundhouse, our authentic iron age hut.

Here are some dates for your diaries.

Friday 3rd October 09:45-11:30 Come and meet the PFA. Louise is hosting a Macmillan World's Biggest Coffee Morning event to raise a bit of money for this worthwhile cause, it will be a great opportunity to get together for a chat. In case anyone is in need of a little retail therapy there will also be a Phoenix cards representative there. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.

Wednesday 15th October, 20:00 AGM.

Wednesday 12 November Bag2School.

This school year's first collection of unwanted, good quality second hand goods in return for much needed school funds is coming up. £70 was raised last time they collected. The Bag2School will pay the school up to 30p per kilo for the following items.

Adults' and children's clothing,

Bedding, curtains, shoes, belts and handbags.

The blue bags supplied by Bag2School will be given out  in book bags before the half term holiday. If you need to fill more than one you can use a black bin liner. Place your bag/bags outside the school gate by 9am on the morning of Wednesday 12 November.

If you miss this collection the next one will be on Wednesday 10th June 2009.

  Pantomime 2008.

Wednesday 17th December 10am.

Following the success of last year's trip to Peter Pan, the PFA has paid for tickets for the school children & teachers to attend this year's Christmas pantomime -Cinderella, at the Civic Centre, Aylesbury. Additional tickets for the performance - which include a complementary ice cream - will be available for those who would like to come along at a cost of only £10 per person (under 2's are free but have to sit on laps). There will be more information nearer the time but please let any member of the PFA committee know if you are interested in coming.

Mum's night out.

We have arranged this two or three times over the last year or so and it has always proved extremely enjoyable. Please let one of the PFA committee members know if you are interested.

We will probably try and arrange this for sometime in November before the Christmas crush starts in earnest.

Last academic year the PFA raised money from events as varied as an Easter Egg Hunt, School Link books, Plant sales, a Shopping Fayre, Cookery evening and  Bag2School.
